TechFlow news, October 26 — a16z engineer @NoahCitron stated on X that Helios is becoming a multi-chain light client for Ethereum. Light clients are foundational to Ethereum's scalability. A future with thousands of rollups no longer seems far off, and the closer we get, the more critical rollup interoperability becomes. Vitalik Buterin replied that this is an important step, with next steps including: integrating Helios (or an alternative) into user wallets, on-chain L2 configurations, and standardized specification of proof validation rules for L2 configurations. Once complete, this will enable universal light client verification across both L1 and L2.
