TechFlow News, October 24 — According to Cryptonews, as blockchain infrastructure matures, tokenized applications are expanding into more niche markets. A recent report by Tren Finance reveals that with the rapid growth of the real-world asset (RWA) tokenization market, its applications are gradually extending into several unique areas, including air rights, Lego models, and tree farming. Currently, approximately $185 billion worth of real-world assets have been tokenized, with stablecoins dominating the space at a market capitalization exceeding $170 billion. Zachary Nelson, Head of Growth at Tren Finance, stated: “Improvements in blockchain scalability, security, and interoperability have lowered the adoption barriers for both permissioned and permissionless chains, laying the foundation for founders to explore use cases beyond traditional asset classes.”
In the field of air rights, tokenization platform SkyTrade estimates the global market value could reach as high as $30 trillion. Jonathan Dockrell, CEO of SkyTrade, explained that the platform solves the problem of real estate owners and municipal authorities being unable to trade air rights through tokenization. As of early 2024, SkyTrade has tokenized 7,000 airspace units with a total value of $35 million.
Tokenization of Lego models also shows significant potential. The community-driven blockchain platform 3DPass enables users to upload unique 3D objects onto the blockchain, including Lego models. Creators can scan their models using a smartphone and tokenize them within the 3DPass application, then disassemble the models into individual bricks for transfer or sale.
In agriculture, the Indian non-governmental organization SankalpTaru has demonstrated the potential of tokenized farming. Ankur Rakhi Sinha, Co-founder and CEO of Airchains, explained that SankalpTaru records each planted tree as a tokenized transaction on the blockchain. To date, over 10 million trees have been recorded on-chain, with this data helping organizations fulfill corporate social responsibility (CSR) obligations while ensuring transparency.
