TechFlow reported on October 15 that, according to Cointelegraph, Ledger cryptocurrency hardware wallet users have recently become targets of a new phishing email campaign. These emails attempt to trick users into activating a fake security feature called "Ledger Clear Signing" to steal their cryptocurrency assets.
The phishing emails claim users must activate this so-called security feature by October 31, 2024, or they will no longer be able to use their Ledger devices. The messages contain malicious links directing users to activate the fraudulent security feature. Microsoft senior threat researcher Thomas Roccia stated that the scam links redirect users to URLs completely unrelated to Ledger.
