TechFlow news, October 10 — According to Crowdfundinsider, AI company OpenAI announced it will enter the Singapore market and plans to establish its Asia-Pacific regional office there within this year. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that Singapore's leading position in artificial intelligence and its potential for solving societal challenges were key reasons for the company's decision.
According to OpenAI data, Singapore is one of the countries with the highest per capita usage of ChatGPT globally, and weekly active users have doubled since the beginning of this year. To support this growth, OpenAI will build a team in Singapore to serve as a hub for customers and partners across the Asia-Pacific region.
The company also announced a collaboration with AI Singapore, pledging up to $1 million to develop resources and open datasets suited to Southeast Asia's diverse languages and cultures. OpenAI has appointed Oliver Jay as Managing Director of International Business, responsible for global expansion.
