TechFlow reported that @0xCygaar, a member of Abstract Chain, pointed out on X that the FBI may have violated the MIT license when issuing the token NexFundAI. The staff member claimed that the FBI directly copied multiple library files from OpenZeppelin into its smart contract but failed to include the required license notice in the code, constituting copyright infringement. According to the terms of the MIT license, all copies or substantial portions of the software must include the original license notice.
Previously, it was reported that the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) created a token and company named "NexFundAI" on Ethereum to identify and combat suspected fraudsters and bring them to justice. It is understood that the FBI used the identity of this company and token to meet with market makers under the guise of discussing "cooperation." One of the defendants explained that his company used bots to simultaneously buy and sell on CEXs to generate trading volume. On-chain data shows that the token's trading function has been disabled 21 days ago.
