TechFlow reports, citing Crowdfund Insider, that Layer has raised $6 million in a seed funding round led by 1kx, with participation from Fabric Ventures, Arrington Capital, and IOBC. Angel investors include Sreeram Kannan of EigenLayer, Rok Kopp and Mike Silagadze of Ether.fi, and Paul Taylor, former BlackRock employee.
Layer leverages WebAssembly to enable developers to write applications in languages like Rust that can run anywhere—even on iPhones. Its upcoming product, the "Layer SDK," will allow developers to build new layers atop Ethereum, running full-stack blockchain applications including smart contracts, consensus mechanisms, UIs, and verifiable off-chain services.
