TechFlow news — On September 30, Lorenzo, CEO of UniSat, published a lengthy post on the social media platform X, stating that over the past year, the decentralization of BRC-20 has far exceeded expectations. As an indexing service provider, UniSat's actual influence on the BRC-20 standard can be considered negligible. Lorenzo reflected on UniSat’s experience in advancing the standardization of BRC-20. He noted that despite substantial effort invested in proposing and iterating improvements, progress toward standardization over the past 12 months has been both slow and challenging. He cited difficulties encountered while attempting to establish a BRC-20 exchange module on the Bitcoin mainnet as a key example.
Regarding community discussions about UniSat’s influence within the BRC-20 ecosystem, Lorenzo stated that if BRC-20 were truly centralized and UniSat held significant sway, the BRC-20 exchange functionality should have launched on the Bitcoin mainnet within two weeks after last year’s test. However, this did not happen. Lorenzo also mentioned that UniSat's only notable attempt at a "vote" occurred in January 2024, when they announced support for the Ordinals Jubilee BRC-20 upgrade—an action that triggered mixed reactions from the community, including both support and skepticism.
Finally, Lorenzo emphasized that decentralization is a core value of the Bitcoin community, and UniSat chooses to respect this culture. He stated that as engineers, their goal is to deliver meaningful products rather than engage in manipulative or divisive community debates. Lorenzo also revealed that UniSat is currently developing multiple innovative projects, including interesting experiments related to OP_CAT and cat20, which are awaiting the right moment for release.
