TechFlow reports that on September 25, Binance denied claims circulating on the dark web regarding a user data breach. Previously, a user identifying as "FireBear" claimed on a dark web forum to have obtained a database containing personal information of 12.8 million Binance users, stating the data was leaked in August and included sensitive details such as "surname, first name, email, phone number, date of birth, address, postal code, and alternative address."
A Binance spokesperson told the media: "This is false information. Our security team has investigated the claims and can confirm this is not a Binance data leak." Despite Binance's denial, cybersecurity experts continue to urge caution. Oz Tamir, a researcher at Blockaid, warned that even fake incidents often trigger phishing campaigns and account takeover scams. He advised users to enable two-factor authentication and remain vigilant against unsolicited communications to protect themselves from potential threats.
