TechFlow reported on September 19 that, according to The Block, the human identity verification project Worldcoin announced it will begin testing facial recognition technology within its World App. This new feature will use private 1:1 facial matching to ensure only users who have previously verified their World ID via an Orb device can access the World App.
Worldcoin stated that the introduction of this measure aims to enhance security across use cases such as online shopping, financial transactions, and secure logins. Currently, the World App digital wallet has nearly 15 million users worldwide, with approximately 6.7 million users having officially verified their "human identity" through Worldcoin's iris-scanning Orb devices.
