TechFlow news, according to Cointelegraph, requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by Bloomberg journalists reveal that SEC Chair Gary Gensler has received multiple threatening emails and voice messages containing violent language from individuals in the U.S. and abroad since 2022, though no clear reasons were provided.
One individual claimed they would "shoot and chop him up," while another threat sender was warned of potential prosecution if such communications continued. Documents suggest one death threat may have come from a government employee, and another email with the subject line "die" originated from Australia.
However, these threats have not been explicitly linked to Gensler's cryptocurrency regulatory policies.
