TechFlow News, September 9 — According to Cointelegraph, Ethereum early advisor Steven Nerayoff filed a lawsuit on September 6 at the New York State Supreme Court, seeking $100 million in damages from law firm Covington & Burling. Nerayoff alleges that the firm made errors in defending him against a 2019 U.S. extortion case. He claims the firm advised him not to submit key evidence proving the legitimacy of his actions to prosecutors, including negotiation videos and emails with the alleged victims. After Nerayoff independently submitted this evidence to prosecutors in June 2022, the case was dismissed in May 2023. A spokesperson for Covington denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit "baseless" and stating the firm will "vigorously" defend itself. Nerayoff's attorney said the litigation has prevented him from conducting business and caused him to lose contracts in the crypto industry, hence the claim for at least $100 million in damages.
