TechFlow reports that on September 5, according to The Information, OpenAI is evaluating a premium subscription pricing strategy for its next-generation large language models. Sources indicate that company executives have begun preliminary discussions regarding pricing plans for the upcoming reasoning model Strawberry and the new flagship LLM Orion. During internal meetings, a monthly subscription price of up to $2,000 was proposed, although the final pricing may be adjusted.
This move could not only impact OpenAI's market positioning but also potentially reshape the pricing landscape for AI conversation products across the industry, affecting competitors such as Google and Anthropic. OpenAI has not yet issued an official statement on the matter. Previous reports indicated that Tadao Nagasaki, CEO of OpenAI’s Japan subsidiary, revealed that the company's next-generation model, codenamed "GPT-Next," is planned for release later this year and is expected to be 100 times more powerful than the current GPT-4 model.
