TechFlow reports that a Coinbase spokesperson has confirmed the political action committee (PAC) Future Forward USA PAC, which supports U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, is accepting cryptocurrency donations via Coinbase Commerce.
Previously, Coinbase CFO Alesia Haas stated at a Citigroup event that Harris "is accepting donations" and using Coinbase Commerce to receive cryptocurrency contributions—a claim that was inaccurate. In fact, it is the pro-Harris PAC, not her official campaign, that is receiving the crypto donations.
Future Forward USA PAC is a hybrid PAC capable of making direct contributions to campaigns or funding independent advertising expenses. Currently, Harris’s official campaign website does not offer a cryptocurrency donation option. This move may signal growing Democratic Party openness toward cryptocurrency. In contrast, Harris’s opponent Donald Trump has already gained support from cryptocurrency enthusiasts and companies, while the current administration led by Harris has faced criticism from the industry for its perceived anti-crypto stance.
