TechFlow reports that former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles, speaking at the Seoul Blockchain Week in South Korea, said he plans to launch a new cryptocurrency exchange called EllipX in Europe later this month.
The exchange will be based in Poland and focus on transparency and user-friendliness. Karpeles will serve as EllipX's Chief Technology Officer, overseeing technical operations.
He emphasized that EllipX will adopt a structure similar to the New York Stock Exchange, separating functions such as trading, brokerage, and custody to enhance transparency.
In addition, EllipX will ensure transparency through sharing technical data and third-party audits. To attract users, EllipX will launch an EllipX Wallet equipped with multi-party computation technology, aiming to deliver a more seamless user experience.
Karpeles stated that holders of Mt. Gox NFTs will receive trading fee discounts on the new platform, and all Mt. Gox customers from 2010 to 2014 will be eligible to claim NFTs for free.
