TechFlow News, September 1 — According to the latest monitoring report released by blockchain security firm PeckShield, over ten hacking incidents occurred in the cryptocurrency sector in August 2024, resulting in total losses of approximately $313.86 million. Among these, phishing attacks emerged as the primary threat, accounting for 93.5% of the total stolen funds.
The report indicates that the two largest hacking incidents in August involved unauthorized transfers (phishing), collectively causing $293.4 million in losses. The top five hacking events in August were as follows:
- Phishing attack: $238 million (BTC) lost
- Phishing attack: $55.4 million (DAI) lost
- Ronin network attack: $12 million lost (recovered)
- Unauthorized transfer: $5.1 million lost
- Nexera project attack: $1.83 million lost
