TechFlow news, according to U.S. magazine Fortune, the social media platform "X" informed its employees in a brief note on Thursday that its long-standing San Francisco office and global headquarters will close on Friday, September 13—two weeks from now.
Twitter took over the 1-million-square-foot building in 2012. Shortly after Elon Musk became owner of Twitter two years ago, thousands of employees were laid off, most furniture was auctioned off, and the large Twitter sign outside the building was removed. Since then, several floors of the building have effectively been shut down.
After CEO Linda Yaccarino announced via email in early August that the San Francisco office would be closing, the company has not provided any further updates to staff. Employees in San Francisco will be relocated to offices in San Jose or Palo Alto. X's headquarters is expected to move to Texas, where other Musk companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company are also headquartered.
