TechFlow news: Privacy-preserving mix network Nym Technologies has announced the public beta launch of its VPN service, NymVPN. Users can register for free at nymvpn.com to participate in the testing. NymVPN offers two modes:
-
Fast Mode routes traffic through two independent servers, suitable for everyday use;
-
Anonymous Mode routes traffic through five servers and adds "cover traffic" with novel onion encryption, providing a higher level of privacy protection for sensitive communications.
NymVPN leverages a decentralized network and "cover traffic" technologies—including data fragmentation, cover traffic, packet mixing, and time delays—to defend against AI-driven data analysis and surveillance.
In addition, NymVPN has developed an anonymous payment system called Zk-Nyms, allowing users to generate usage credentials without revealing personal information.
Nym CEO Harry Halpin stated that NymVPN aims to be the first commercial application running on a decentralized mix network, not only anonymizing user identities and payments but also preventing metadata tracking and surveillance.
