TechFlow news, August 16 — According to The Block, private space company SERA has partnered with Coinbase to launch a series of NFTs on its Layer 2 network Base. These NFTs will give buyers a chance to secure seats on flights aboard the New Shepard rocket to near-Earth orbit. The company will also incorporate on-chain voting into its astronaut selection program, choosing six individuals from around the world to participate in the mission.
SERA co-founder Sam Hutchinson said the project aims to ensure fairness and transparency in the selection process through blockchain technology and on-chain voting. The voting process will take place on-chain and include KYC verification to ensure impartiality. Jesse Pollak, Coinbase engineer and founder of Base, stated that SERA's initiative resonates with Web3's vision of an open global economy, striving to make the on-chain global economy accessible to everyone.
