TechFlow news, on August 16, according to Jinshi Data, Federal Reserve Chair Powell is scheduled to speak about the economic outlook at 10:00 PM Beijing time next Friday. This annual central bank event provides Powell an opportunity to deliver a fresh assessment of the U.S. economic trajectory and monetary policy prospects between the Fed's July and September meetings. Last month, he indicated that if inflation and the labor market continue to cool, the Fed might consider rate cuts at its next meeting.
The market widely expects the Fed to cut rates at its next meeting on September 17–18, although there is some disagreement over the magnitude of the cut. While most economists anticipate a 25-basis-point reduction, some forecasting institutions, including Citi and JPMorgan Chase, expect a 50-basis-point cut. Bank of America stated that markets are pricing in four rate cuts this year. "We don't think Powell will contradict market pricing; he will keep the option of aggressive easing on the table, depending on data ahead of the September meeting."
