TechFlow News — Cronos Labs announced the official launch of the Cronos zkEVM mainnet, making it the first Layer-2 ZK chain outside of ZKsync Era. The network is the result of collaboration between Cronos Labs, Matter Labs (a contributor to ZKsync), Crypto.com, VVS Finance, Fulcrom Finance, Veno Finance engineering teams, and over 20 partners.
Cronos zkEVM is an Ethereum-based Layer-2 blockchain powered by ZKsync technology. Its testnet launched in December 2023 and has processed millions of transactions, reaching over 3 million unique addresses.
Cronos zkEVM uses $zkCRO—the liquid staking version of $CRO—as its gas token.
Ken Timsit from Cronos Labs stated that with the launch of Cronos zkEVM and integration with ZKsync, they aim to help achieve Ethereum's long-term vision of infinite scalability and mainstream adoption.
