TechFlow News — The State of Wisconsin Investment Board increased its holdings in spot Bitcoin ETFs during the second quarter of 2024. According to a 13-F filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the board purchased an additional 447,651 shares of BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), bringing its total holdings to 2,898,051 shares, valued at $98.9 million at quarter-end.
At the same time, the board liquidated its entire position in the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), which had previously been worth $63.7 million. Although the number of IBIT shares held increased, the dollar value of the holding decreased by $228,227 due to falling prices.
In addition, the board acquired 5,980 shares of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and 77,996 shares of Bitcoin mining company Marathon Digital.
As of August 13, IBIT held 58.8% of the spot Bitcoin ETF market share, ranking first, while GBTC followed with 15.2%.
