TechFlow news, according to regulatory filings released on Wednesday, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley collectively purchased over $600 million worth of spot bitcoin ETFs in the second quarter of 2024.
In its 13-F quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Goldman Sachs reported acquiring approximately $418 million in various newly launched spot bitcoin ETFs. The firm holds nearly 7 million shares of iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT.O), valued at around $238 million as of June 30. Goldman Sachs also holds substantial positions in Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin ETF and Invesco Galaxy Bitcoin ETF (BTCO.Z), along with smaller holdings in other bitcoin ETFs launched in January.
Morgan Stanley also showed strong preference for BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin ETF, disclosing a holding of 5.5 million shares, valued at $188 million as of June 30. The bank additionally holds minor positions in Ark 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB.Z) and Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC.P).
