TechFlow News — On August 9, according to the Liaoshen Evening News, a cryptocurrency-related telecom fraud case was successfully cracked within just seven hours through collaboration between police forces in Shenyang and Changchun. In early July, suspect Yu established an online romantic relationship with Ms. Lü (pseudonym), the victim, and lured her into participating in a fake virtual currency investment scheme. After showing screenshots of high returns, Ms. Lü withdrew 500,000 yuan in cash on July 22 and handed it over to a so-called "investment manager." Shortly afterward, the man disappeared, and the promised cryptocurrency never arrived.
Shenyang's Shenhe District Public Security Bureau, Da'nan Police Station quickly identified the "investment manager" Wang Moumou and arrested him the same night near Shenyang North Railway Station, recovering 20,000 yuan in cash. Investigation revealed that Wang was an accomplice of Yu, who had received 20,000 yuan as payment. Yu fled to Changchun with the remaining 480,000 yuan in illicit funds. Shenyang police immediately coordinated with their counterparts in Changchun, leading to Yu's arrest around 1 a.m. the next day, during which the full 480,000 yuan was recovered at the scene. Currently, suspects Yu and Wang have been criminally detained on suspicion of fraud, and all 500,000 yuan defrauded from Ms. Lü has been fully recovered.
