TechFlow news — On August 6, according to Venturebeat, the Arbitrum Foundation and Sequence are collaborating with Ubisoft Labs to develop a Web3 game titled "Captain Laserhawk: the G.A.M.E." This game expands on Ubisoft's "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix" series created for Netflix, featuring iconic characters from franchises such as Assassin's Creed, Rayman, and Beyond Good & Evil.
The project will be built primarily on the Arbitrum blockchain, leveraging its scalability and speed, while Sequence will provide essential blockchain infrastructure tools. Although blockchain gaming has seen slow adoption among mainstream Western players, Ubisoft continues to explore experimental opportunities in Web3, despite facing backlash in 2021 for its NFT launch.
Nicolas Pouard, Vice President of Ubisoft Labs, stated that with Arbitrum’s blockchain infrastructure and Sequence’s comprehensive Web3 technology, the game will empower players with unprecedented influence, transparency, and co-creation capabilities. Sequence CEO Peter Kieltyka added that this collaboration opens the door to a new generation of gaming. Nina Rong from the Arbitrum Foundation emphasized that participation from established game studios will accelerate industry growth.
