TechFlow reports that Anatoly Legkodymov, founder of cryptocurrency exchange Bitzlato, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and laundering over $700 million in illicit proceeds. Since Legkodymov has been in custody since his arrest in January 2023, his sentence is complete and no further imprisonment is required.
In December last year, Legkodymov pleaded guilty, admitting that Bitzlato had been used for darknet transactions over multiple years, including with the notorious drug marketplace Hydra Market, which was shut down by authorities in 2022.
