TechFlow news, July 8 — According to News 1, a Woori Bank employee in South Korea has been arrested and charged for embezzling 18 billion KRW (approximately 13 million USD), of which around 15 billion KRW (about 10.84 million USD) was used to purchase virtual assets.
From July last year to May this year, the employee forged loan documents 35 times under the names of 17 clients—individuals and businesses—creating fictitious loan applications, then transferred the loan proceeds into accounts held by acquaintances, totaling approximately 17.77 billion KRW. Prosecutors seized 180 million KRW from the employee's residence and froze assets including cryptocurrency exchange deposits, bank deposits, and lease security deposits worth about 4.5 billion KRW.
