TechFlow news, according to Cointelegraph, the Nigerian government, through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has announced plans to establish research centers focused on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain across six geopolitical zones nationwide. NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa stated at the West Africa IoT Conference held in Lagos that these research centers will drive innovation in key areas including drones, additive manufacturing, AI, and robotics.
In addition, NITDA plans to support Nigerian startups through an innovation sandbox, helping them develop new technology products and bring them to market. The agency is also implementing its "3 Million Technical Talent" (3MTT) program, aiming to train three million Nigerians by 2027 to enhance the country's technical workforce. Inuwa emphasized that Nigeria has the potential to become the "next Silicon Valley of Africa," attracting greater investor attention toward tech startups in emerging technology sectors.
