TechFlow reported, according to Cointelegraph, that the Cardano blockchain experienced a DDoS attack on June 25, beginning at block number 10,487,530. The attack aimed to manipulate the blockchain to reduce fees for high-value transactions and attempt to steal staked ADA tokens. Raul Antonio, Chief Technology Officer of Fluid Tokens, explained that attackers exploited a vulnerability where the size of reference scripts does not affect transaction fees.
Philip Disarro, founder and CEO of Anastasia Labs, stated that developers successfully halted the attack and recovered the stolen ADA tokens. The Intersect organization confirmed the incident and thanked the developer community for swiftly resolving the issue. Although the network was not breached, increased load affected some stake pool operators. Developers are currently testing a new node version to further minimize the impact of such attacks.
