TechFlow news — On June 7, a16z Crypto investor Guy Wuollet said on social media that zero-knowledge (ZK) technology is severely underestimated and discussed its immense potential in cryptocurrency and developer tools. Wuollet drew an analogy to the success of the iPhone, suggesting that ZK technology could similarly enable a wave of innovative applications.
He noted that the iPhone's breakthrough stemmed from combining a programmable mobile computer with GPS and a high-quality camera, enabling apps like Instagram and Uber. Likewise, ZK technology—particularly zkVMs such as Jolt—could bring about similarly revolutionary changes. He argued that DeFi protocols should adopt risk modeling using ZK techniques and implement more sophisticated pricing functions. Moreover, blockchains combined with ZK proofs could enable censorship-resistant AI companions and allow for the verification of simple machine learning models on-chain.
Wuollet concluded that ZK technology can be used to build more complex DeFi protocols, censorship-resistant AI companions, or on-chain machine learning systems, urging developers to pay attention to this emerging field.
