TechFlow news, four senators led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have proposed a plan urging Congress to invest at least $32 billion over the next three years in developing artificial intelligence (AI) and establishing related safeguards.
This roadmap is part of the U.S. government's efforts to regulate and promote AI development. Previously, U.S. lawmakers unveiled a bipartisan bill aimed at helping the Biden administration implement export controls on leading AI models developed in the country.
Following meetings with industry experts and AI critics, this bipartisan working group emphasized the importance of AI investment in maintaining U.S. competitiveness and improving people's lives. The proposal also calls for strengthening existing legal regulations on AI and advancing standards for AI transparency and explainability.
