TechFlow reported, according to The Block, that the spot Ethereum ETF proposals submitted by ARK Invest and 21Shares will not include staking. In previous filings, Ark Invest / 21Shares included a staking component, stating, "the sponsor may from time to time stake a portion of the trust’s assets through one or more trusted staking providers." However, this language was removed in the latest update filed on Friday.
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said the move could indicate that issuers are refining their applications in response to SEC comments—which would be positive news. ARK Invest and 21Shares have not commented yet. It has been reported that industry optimism around SEC approval for spot Ethereum ETFs has waned over recent months, with Balchunas reducing his estimated approval probability from 70% to 25%.
