TechFlow News, according to local reports, South Korea plans to upgrade its temporary cryptocurrency investigation task force into a permanent unit to address the growing number of crimes and fraud cases.
The plan aims to enhance the organization's status and efficiency, with discussions set to begin in early May. South Korea is experiencing a significant rise in cryptocurrency-related criminal activities.
According to a February report, local cryptocurrency firms reported 16,076 suspicious transactions, a 49% increase compared to 2022. Additionally, South Korea will implement its first comprehensive cryptocurrency regulatory framework on July 19, aimed at investor protection and including stricter criminal penalties.
