TechFlow news: Solana validators have passed a proposal aimed at reducing consensus "voting" latency to accelerate on-chain transaction speeds.
The proposal calls for implementing "timely voting credits" on Solana and was approved on April 9 with 98% of votes in favor.
This will change the mechanism by which validators perform "votes" to confirm transactions. Proposed by zantetsu from Solana validator Shinobi Systems, it introduces a variable number of voting credits, awarding more credits for votes submitted with lower latency. Solana Labs stated this will deter intentional delays, as delayed votes will receive fewer voting credits.
