TechFlow reported, according to Bloomberg, a senior executive of Binance Holdings Ltd. has been detained in Nigeria for over a month on tax evasion charges. Following the initial court appearance, the case has been adjourned to April 19.
Tigran Gambaryan, Binance's head of financial crimes compliance, is facing charges alongside the company, including failure to pay value-added and corporate income taxes, as well as conspiracy to aid customers in evading taxes through its platform. He will remain in custody with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria. Judge Emeka Nwite postponed the hearing regarding the company to April 8.
