TechFlow news — Over the past few months, numerous meme coins containing racist terminology have emerged.
During a discussion at BUIDL Asia, panel members debated how best to address this issue.
Austin Federa, Head of Communications at the Solana Foundation, said that choice means wallet developers have the right to implement blacklists. He noted that nearly every wallet in every ecosystem already filters spam NFTs and spam tokens. Users always retain the ability to display what they wish, but the core network needs to remain permissionless.
The founder of Aave Chan Initiative offered a different perspective, pointing out that under EU law, there is an obligation to filter content. He also emphasized how different cultures approach the same issue in distinct ways.
