TechFlow news: In February, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) announced it would begin investigating cryptocurrency mining companies following an "emergency data collection request." Last week, the Texas Blockchain Council and bitcoin mining company Riot Platforms sued the Department of Energy, calling the investigation a product of a "hasty government process."
According to a notice filed Friday, the parties involved have reached an agreement. As part of the agreement, the EIA must "destroy any information it has received" and withdraw the investigation. The documents state that the EIA will issue a new notice regarding the investigation, allowing for public comment. In an email statement to The Block, the EIA expressed its hope to collaborate with cryptocurrency mining companies in the future.
The Digital Commerce Coalition called this a "major victory" for cryptocurrency mining.
