TechFlow reports that Coinbase's cloud division has expanded support for Nethermind and Erigon, aiming to reduce reliance on Geth and increase diversity among Ethereum execution layer clients.
This move is intended to lower dependence on Geth by distributing validator nodes across different clients. Coinbase stated that client diversity on Ethereum is highly important to them. Currently, Coinbase manages 138,000 validator nodes.
Coinbase's support for Nethermind and Erigon addresses concerns about Geth's dominance and the risks associated with overreliance on a single client. Ethereum core developers also advocate for a multi-client ecosystem.
