TechFlow reports that Bitcoin ecosystem project Bitmap Tech has announced via social media that the VOYA airdrop is currently underway, and the Merlin Chain bridge functionality has been launched. To ensure early security, transfers from Bitcoin to Layer 1 wallet addresses will take approximately three days. Settlements to other Layer 2 networks such as OP will require seven days, though this duration is expected to decrease in the future. Bridge fees, which include gas fees as well as UTXO merge/split costs, will be reduced in the near future.
A total of 16.8 million MERL tokens (0.8% of total supply) will be distributed to users based on their on-chain activities during the early phase, such as transferring funds, trading tokens, or providing liquidity on MerlinSwap.
The upcoming ZKEvm CDK launch in the coming days will resolve congestion issues affecting account abstraction (AA) wallets.
