TechFlow news: Scroll has announced a protocol upgrade aimed at improving the cost efficiency for users bridging from Ethereum to Scroll, with bridge costs expected to decrease by up to 50%.
This upgrade affects only Scroll's contracts and does not impact sequencers or follower nodes, nor requires changes to existing applications. To reduce fund bridging costs, Scroll has implemented a series of gas optimizations, including using constant storage contract addresses to save on storage loading operations and merging contracts to reduce contract call costs.
The upgraded contract changes have been published on GitHub and will be initiated via a multi-signature contract on February 7, 2024, followed by a timelock period. The upgrade is expected to be executed around February 21, 2024, after the timelock expires.
