TechFlow News, SlowMist released its 2023 Blockchain and Anti-Money Laundering Report on X: In 2023, a total of 464 security incidents occurred in the blockchain industry, resulting in losses amounting to $2.486 billion. This represents a 34.31% decrease compared to 2022 (303 incidents in 2022 led to approximately $3.777 billion in losses).
DeFi remains the most targeted sector in blockchain security, with 282 security incidents recorded—accounting for 60.77% of all incidents. However, losses dropped to $773 million, a 62.73% decline from the $2.075 billion lost in 183 DeFi-related incidents in 2022.
In addition, there were 117 rug-pull incidents in 2023, causing over $83 million in losses. The Base ecosystem suffered the most, losing $32.5 million due to rug pulls, followed by BSC with $23.05 million in losses. In 2023, approximately 324,000 victims had their wallets compromised, with stolen funds totaling $295 million.
