TechFlow news, according to Blockworks, due to the rebound in Bitcoin's price, the value of Bitcoin currently held by the U.S. government has increased to $8.3 billion, up $3.3 billion from less than three months ago.
Over the past two years, the U.S. government seized a total of 207,189 bitcoins through three operations related to Silk Road, hacker Jimmy Zhong, and the Bitfinex hack.
The report stated that if the U.S. government had chosen to hold all confiscated bitcoins instead of selling them, it would still hold approximately 400,000 bitcoins ($17.4 billion), nearly double its current holdings value.
