TechFlow reports that UK police are investigating an incident in which a girl's avatar was gang-raped in a metaverse game, believed to be the first such investigation involving the metaverse.
According to the Daily Mail, the victim is a girl under the age of 16 who was wearing a virtual reality headset while playing an immersive game when her avatar (her animated representation) was sexually assaulted by several men.
Police sources told the media that although the complainant did not suffer any physical injury, she may have experienced trauma similar to that of someone raped in real life.
