TechFlow news, according to Bloomberg, a federal judge in California dismissed X Corp.'s (formerly Twitter) lawsuit against California's content moderation law (AB 587), requiring the company to disclose its policies on combating misinformation, hate speech, harassment, and extremism on its platform as mandated by law.
The bill, signed last year by California Governor Gavin Newsom, aims to protect the public by requiring companies to report data on policy enforcement. X had claimed the law violated free speech rights.
After Elon Musk acquired Twitter, he promised the platform would be unmoderated and implemented several changes, but research indicates this led to an increase in harmful content. X previously argued the law infringed upon free speech protections under both the U.S. and California constitutions, but the judge did not accept this argument.
