TechFlow news: Polygon zkEVM has added the USDC standard contract for cross-chain bridges, aiming to make it easier for Layer 2 blockchains to transition to native USDC in the future.
Earlier this month, Circle introduced the cross-chain USDC standard to help newer EVM-compatible chains and rollups address cold-start challenges—using bridged stablecoins to bootstrap network activity until transaction volumes are sufficient to justify a native version. The standard provides specifications and procedures for deploying bridged forms of USDC, with seamless upgrades to native USDC by Circle when appropriate.
