TechFlow news: Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said the company has no plans to launch a token for its Layer-2 network Base, contradicting earlier statements from its Chief Legal Officer.
The company is currently focused on integrating Base with various applications, and developers are "very excited" about the performance of Layer-2.
Armstrong noted that Base and other Layer-2 solutions are part of achieving the company's goal of average platform transactions within "one second and under one cent." He emphasized making Layer-2 the "default option on the platform," rather than something people use only occasionally.
Armstrong likened the transition to Layer-2 to the "shift from dial-up to broadband internet," and stated this is "very important for launching new applications."
