TechFlow news, according to The Block, Sei Labs plans to add Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) support in the Sei V2 upgrade, enabling developers to easily migrate Ethereum contracts to the network.
In addition, Sei V2 will introduce a data structure called SeiDB, which is claimed to improve the storage layer and enhance overall performance and scalability.
Sei V2 will integrate Geth, the Go implementation of the Ethereum Virtual Machine, and facilitate interaction with existing smart contract components through dedicated interfaces. This will make Sei the first network capable of enabling cross-calling between EVM and CosmWasm contracts.
The upgrade is scheduled to launch on the public testnet in the first quarter of 2024, with mainnet deployment expected early in the year.
