TechFlow news: The Dogecoin (DOGE)-funded lunar mission has received a critical approval from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), marking a step toward the final Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license.
The DOGE-1 satellite, developed by Geometric Energy Corporation, will be launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
Samuel Reid, CEO of Geometric Energy Corporation, stated that the NTIA has approved the DOGE-1 X-band, but the FCC license—covering both X-band and S-band—is still pending.
The satellite features a display screen that will show advertisements, images, and logos, with launch scheduled for January 2024. This will be the first satellite fully paid for in DOGE, initially announced by SpaceX founder Elon Musk in 2021 with an original launch target of 2022. However, due to multiple delays by SpaceX, the launch is now set for January 2024. This is one of two planned Dogecoin-related missions.
