TechFlow news — According to Business Insider, regarding the latest developments in the case involving Changpeng Zhao and Binance, CFTC Commissioner Christy Goldsmith Romero stated: "There is no such thing as a 'pirate ship' in the U.S. market," and "accessing U.S. customers is a privilege, not a right." The CFTC plans to continue aggressively pursuing crypto exchanges that violate trading laws and will not tolerate the use of VPNs or any other means to circumvent KYC rules, including merely requiring users to confirm in a pop-up dialog that they are not located in the United States.
CFTC Commissioner Caroline D. Pham said in a separate statement that the CFTC's jurisdiction has no borders, and the agency will not cease pursuing non-U.S. entities.
