TechFlow news — According to an official announcement, OpenAI has declared that Sam Altman will no longer serve as CEO and will leave the board of directors. Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati will serve as interim CEO with immediate effect. The selection process for a permanent CEO is still ongoing.
In its statement, OpenAI said the decision was reached after careful deliberation by the board. The board found that Altman had not been consistently candid in his communications with the board, which hindered his ability to lead effectively, and thus they no longer have confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.
Meanwhile, OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman will step down as chairman of the board but will remain as president of OpenAI, reporting directly to the CEO.
