TechFlow reported, citing The Block, that Brazil's central bank governor Roberto Campos Neto said the country passed new cryptocurrency regulations last year and created the instant payment system PIX. On one day this month, PIX recorded over 170 million transactions, making it Brazil's most popular payment system. Regarding new PIX features, he noted the platform is programmable, supporting automated and scheduled payments, and added that Brazil's credit card environment will undergo significant changes in the next three to four years due to programmability.
Roberto Campos Neto stated that Brazil's digital real "Drex" is issued via deposits, making it not only simpler and cheaper but also inheriting established "deposit regulation" rules, thereby improving banks' efficiency. Roberto said Drex will not only benefit payments but also enhance processes for contracts and registrations used in transactions such as international real estate purchases.
